"Rustic Meditation" a sculpture by Paul Angiolillo
MASSACHUSETTS---Literal translations are difficult when it comes to the vernacular of ancient spirituality, but artistic interpretations can be just as challenging. "Buddhas Over Worcester: Reimagining Buddha," an exhibit on display in the back garden of the Boundless Way Temple, 1030 Pleasant St., asked artists to create sculptural pieces that addressed the concept of Buddha — that is, what it means to be "awake." The community art project continues through July 5 and is free. At the heart of the project was a desire to include the community in not only the Worcester art scene but also in all of the wonderful things happening at the temple, which houses the Worcester Zen Center for Meditation.
