Remembering the "Why" for what we do is at the core of creative and spiritual renewal, and that's why artists and arts managers need periodic gatherings, or the opportunity to take pilgrimages that bring us back to our source. This week, as A&O attended the Americans for the Arts conference in Pittsburgh; other artists such as Makoto Fugimura gathered in Wheaton, Illinois at the Christians in the Visual Arts' biennial conference. Similarly, the American Theatre wing gathered for the "Tony Awards" where they recognized theatre artist Cicely Tyson, for her portrayal in "Trip to Bountiful" --- a story in and of itself about spiritual renewal, and remembering "why". We all need to remember why we started, and that is why such artist pilgrimages are the A&O NEWS OF WEEK.
