THE SPACE
UNITED KINGDOM---US video artist Bill Viola has brought nine of his new works to show in London. The pieces echo themes that are fundamental to him, including the transience of human existence and our often futile efforts to understand our lives. This film interview with Viola sees the artist concentrate on his water portraits – The Dreamers – visually stunning and at times unnerving video images of individuals submerged beneath the water, apparently sleeping. In the exhibition at Blain Southern Gallery the pieces are mounted in a darkened room and accompanied by the gentle sounds of water. [Watch: Video]
